| A water wheel in Chiang Mai, Thailand Once there were a great many of these wheels, now (1995) they are rare. By looking carefully one can see five water jets near the rim. The jets are caught by a trough from which the water runs into a tobacco field through a bamboo tube. Look below to see a drawing of a much bigger wheel. [62] |

| These two wheels are from China. Even though the wheels turn very slowly, they lift a great amount of water. The wheels are turning day and night and throughout the year. |
